Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson is the daughter of British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby (born in Paris) and Chris Watson (born in Paris). After moving to Oxfordshire at the age of five, she enrolled in The Dragon School. Emma chose to become an actor by the age of six. For several years she was a student at the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts part-time school. There she learned singing dance, acting and singing. Her performances had been in numerous Stagecoach and school productions before she was 10 years old. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000), the film remake of J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel was first cast for the first for the first time on January 1, 1999. Emma was found by agents via an Oxford teacher. David Heyman informed Emma, Daniel Radcliffe, and Rupert Grint after 8 auditions. They were selected as three leads Hermione Gringer Harry Potter Ron Weasley. The debut of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) was Emma's film debut. It also was the most well-received film of the year. The first days and weekends of sales were record-breaking. Many critics have praised the film as well as the performances by the three main young actors. The Daily Telegraph, an important British publication, described Emma's performances "amazing". Emma's performance won her a nomination and won five awards later for the film.
